Many thanks to Kroger and Murray’s Cheese for providing me with the delicious cheese mentioned here to enjoy at home. Thanks to High Cotton Brewing Company for hosting this event.
Move over wine! Cheese has met its new match. Beer. Yes, beer!
Beer and cheese are a match made in heaven! Being from Wisconsin and a Green Bay Packers fan, I can attest to that! Beer pairs exceptionally well with salty food and cheese has a certain saltiness to it.
I’ve been to numerous wine tastings in my life, but never a beer and cheese tasting so I was excited to check this out. Kroger hosted the event at High Cotton Brewing Company in Memphis on January 11th for area food bloggers to sample four of High Cotton’s brews paired with four of Murray’s Cheese finest selections.
Murray’s Cheese is the iconic New York cheese shop that has now spread it’s cheesy goodness around the country in the form of Murray’s Cheese Shops located inside Kroger stores. Be still my heart.
Here’s a rundown of our samplings:
- High Cotton’s ESB with Noble Springs Chevre which is light, fresh and spreadable.
- High Cotton’s Scottish Ale with Murray’s Greensward which is luscious, bacony and silky (oh, baby!)
- High Cotton’s CTZar IPA with Murray’s English Cheddar which is tangy, nutty and sweet
- High Cotton’s Milk Stout with Murray’s Black Label Cambozola which is creamy, tangy and sweet
Want to do something different for your “big game” party this year? Pair some of Murray’s cheese with High Cotton’s beer, all available from your local Kroger store.
If you ever get to Memphis, be sure to put High Cotton Brewing Company on your agenda when you want to take a break from seeing all the Memphis area landmarks like Sun Studio, the National Civil Rights Museum and Beale Street.
And…. GO PACKERS!
