Welcome to “Taste Matters” at From A Chef’s Kitchen where I dish up some tasty tidbits, a kitchen tip or two, my current cookbook crush, some menu ideas from some of my food blogger friends to get you through your week, a weekend entertaining menu, recipe roundups and perhaps even speak my mind!
I can’t believe how summer is flying by and we’re already looking at the end of July. School is starting next Monday in this area!
We’re still harvesting plenty of produce from our little garden. Although I’m looking forward to fall because it’s such a spectacular time of year, I’m not quite ready for soups, stews and sweatshirts. This is such an abundant time of year so I’m not going to wish time away. I plan to enjoy every hot, steamy August day and live abundantly!

Current Cookbook Crush
Read my review and get the recipe for Southwestern Layered Salad, a sample of one of the 120 delicious vegetarian recipes in Simply Vegetarian Cookbook. The “mostly” vegetarian author, Susan Pridmore, otherwise known as The Wimpy Vegetarian, is also a trained chef. However, she’s married to someone who is “mostly” carnivore. Because of that, she’s always on a hunt for recipes they’ll both enjoy. Susan includes numerous tips for going meatless and staying nutritionally balanced along with “flexitarian” tips to keep meat eaters happy. (Affiliate link below.)
